Chance At Life Echo blueprints, right on target Pulled the trigger off and running After rocks and heaven Lies and chemistry pacify the broken Low down high, no place to point a finger Spent those decades drowning in December Sleepwalk forever Sunburnt ego, empty milestones Chasing mirages and refuge You kept one foot in the shade Dumbing down the sirens and breakthroughs Lip service guru staying lost and funky I missed the memo, I missed the Mayday. Mirror, mirror tell me: am I hotter, or colder? Am I wiser, or just older? Fixing holes, or glossing over? A Chance at Life, A Chance at Life Dueling brothers forget the Mother Close the door and drop the curtain Bowing out, we'll burn it down Nevermind facts, never learning... Bigger, faster, stronger, chip up on your shoulder I pegged ya for the winner, but you keep playing the beginner....over and over You're stuck on rewind, choking in the dust Too hard and too late to wake up Oh you're off the mark and on the edge Just beginning at the end... A Chance at Life, oh ya had a Chance at Life Bigger, faster, stronger, chip up on your shoulder I pegged ya for the winner, but you keep playing the beginner....over and over and over A Chance at Life, ya had a Chance at Life

Space Junk 03:57
Please confirm Are we zero return All the stuff we sent Into the firmament Just apples from the tree Space junk syzygy Please confirm What have you learned Can you find your way Through machine array Please get back to me Space junk syzygy Nursing habit that broke us Mining wreckage is hopeless In a push and pull trajectory Space junk syzygy Please confirm New coin of the realm Your mindshare Is just thin air Nursing habits that broke us Mining wreckage is hopeless In a push and pull trajectory Space junk syzygy

Oooh that treasure hunt is on It's the urban panacea Bound by tragic fault and measure We are alone, together The course is steady, ripe and ready. It ain't no secret Catastrophe is waiting I know it when I feel it All systems failing In the moving stars and levers We've got family trees and fatal weather Sold like fevered salt and honey These spotlight thieves are making money The course is steady, ripe and ready. It ain't no secret Catastrophe is waiting I know it when I feel it All systems failing Poison king and plastic oceans Divide us with our clashing notions Like China bulls we start their fires Forsake our seeds, revere the liars The course is steady. Ripe and ready. It ain't no secret Catastrophe is waiting I know it when I feel it All systems failing The icepick tales are deep and heavy And our rivers overcome the levee Brace yourself and place your bet Cuz what you are is what you'll get Oh the course is steady, we're ripe and ready. It ain't exactly secret Catastrophe is waiting I know it when I feel it All systems failing

Fences 04:24
I do what I can to keep my senses Do what you want, build your fences Take your time with your own time Get it in your head a bigger message I do what I can to fill my senses The mood inside leaves you restless A rusty gate to the places You could go...but for fences I got no properties that I'm leanin' on Got no sovereignty, we all belong In that special place in humanity Each and every one, coming on You know I've been down before Waiting for it all Watching while the grass grew Greener on one side, but then I changed my mind And I realized Forget about sides, erase the borders The devil's rope, artificial order But for the mind only traces The rusty barbs of our fences Well I got no properties that I'm leanin' on Got no sovereignty, we all belong In that special place in humanity Feel each and every one coming on You know I've been down before Waiting for it all, yeah Watching while the grass grew Greener on one side but then I changed my mind And I realized

From ones and zeroes you came to me A pretty vision for all to see Bright days and ideas, meant to be Racing lemonade and your old news Diesel whispers and my half truths Just smears on the canvas of me and you Standing in the ebb and flow I look for clues, look out below Cuz I'll be damned to be the last to know In my February mind Wanna stay below deck where the wind isn't blowing I wanna stay blind to the cracks that are showing Don't know the forecast, or where this is going In my February mind I go looking for ghosts when it's sunny I spin out and I make jokes about shit that's not funny I try to re-write the code while the program's still running down In my February mind And I hide my heart where no one can reach it I play the part, play it cool, tryin' to keep it And I play nice so that nobody discovers my secret doubt In my February mind, in my February mind Wanna stay below deck where the wind isn't blowing I wanna stay blind to the cracks that are showing Will you go on with it baby now, knowing me And my February mind Now I should've landed anywhere but here Tearing down some Valentine veneer In my February mind, in my February mind Yeah I could still color inside the lines And just hope that your love is a different kind But will you hang in there, cuz it takes time To quiet my February mind It takes time to quiet my February mind Are ya gonna leave me alone in my February mind In my February mind

Lotus 04:27
Well I did time below the flatline Waded murky waters with a broken mind Crashed and burned my way back, left behind And I came out kickin' on the other side On the runway I mined the fallout Took the pieces to the grind I torched the altar and the traces of my wrongs Put the past where it belongs Same old scene as before, same old clowns here Keeping score...I just ain't worried anymore In the static on the outside There's a lotus blooming in the swamp Choose the world you wanna live in All the cracks you see are only there To let light in I'm doing time on the frontlines Alchemy is happening where I put my mind Reaching nowhere, starting somewhere, starting forward Reaching somewhere, starting nowhere, start it over Long lost friends on their own We've got no win words coming from the throne Too many souls feeling all alone When are you coming home? Ruby slippers on a tightrope The destination's always in reach Don't hold your breath for any saviors The moment is waiting, make a move And make your way Oh won't you come on him, come on home baby Home, come one home I'm telling you It's about the bright side, the upside Right now, starting over Inside

Camp 05:32
Six days' distance from the sentence She crammed years in a suitcase and said her goodbyes In sunday clothes she crossed the bridge With the other criminals of race Us blue eyed neighbors staring back What have we done Oh, what have we done... We took away her land We took away her life Nobody took a stand But the camp didn't break her down He arrived in purgatory, an orphan of the islands With a smile from the movies, his laugh would spring up Like flowers coming up through the concrete They found each other behind barbed wire fences He'd sing to her about his dreams of all their better days ahead We took away their land We took away their life Nobody took a stand but The camp didn't break them down Rounded up and locked away Profiled from the masses Dismissed our own bigotry In all of our history classes I was just a soldier with impossible orders Ashamed of my skin and my uniform, I knew it was wrong In spite of my duty standing guard I gave sugar to the babies and respect to the ladies I shook the hands of my brothers interned as "The other" All of us together, we were prisoners of panic and rage I didn't take a stand I stood guard on these people We betrayed our fellow man but The camp didn't break them down We couldn't break them down If I could do it again I'd take a stand For my fellow man It was all of us together It should've been all of us together Now it could be all of us together

There's a sound in the stones As they each find a home There's one over two And there's two over one In the genes of the lean In the furrows of fiends The old man knew something When he mocked his own means There are names that we’re given And names we become Sounding from bedrock and The utterance tongue In terms of the words and as far as they go I know what you go by But who are you now And you see me On a thin limb Far rider Little breeze You can try to re-fit something solid and old Interrupting perfection with consecutive holes Creating a fault intending to part But feathers and wedges aren't for holes in the heart And you see me On a thin limb Far rider Little breeze

Art Of Life 03:41
Gotta start living for the living What else is there to do It's all there for the taking Make a masterpiece with you You can show me something Then I'll show you And we'll just keep sculpting And before we're through The art of life...The art of life...The art of life Gotta start living for the living What else is there to do It's all there in our laughter I wanna keep laughing with you You can tell me something Then I'll tell you And we'll just keep laughing And before we're through The art of life...The art of life...The art of life You can give me something Then I'll give you And we'll just keep giving And before we're through....... The art of life...The art of life...The art of life

about

Thirteen Finches Seattle, Washington

Songwriters Tal Goettling and Shannon Harris started as an acoustic duo. After recording engineer and bassist Scott Masoner helped with some demos, they recruited Scott on bass, Tim Bethune on electric guitar and Matthew Kriemelman on drums to fill out the vocal-centric songs they had written. In 2018, Thirteen Finches - the band and the self titled debut album - were born. ... more
